Skype Saxophone Lessons

Meet James, one of my Skype saxophone students from the Greek island of Zakynthos.

I started teaching James in October 2013 when he was 11.  His parents contacted me as James did not have access to a notable sax tutor on this small Greek Island, and wanted James to be able to get hold of world-class tuition, without having to leave his own home.  Cambridge Saxophone was the only place that fitted the bill and I was delighted to welcome James as a student of mine.

James had some basic music knowledge that he had picked up from school, but wanted to move forward and take music exams.  James and I worked hard in developing a strategy that would allow him to do this and in June 2014 I ‘met’ James in the flesh for the first time, as he arrived overnight from Greece with his Dad on the morning of his Grade 5 ABRSM saxophone exam.

After a brief rehearsal with the pianist James departed for the centre.  Despite being a little nervous, James and I both knew that he had practised diligently and should gain a pass, probably with merit.

We needn’t have worried.  James passed his exam with flying colours achieving a distinction with 140 out of 150, (including full marks on Gershwin’s ‘But Not For Me’).

James and I still meet on a Friday and he is currently working towards his Grade 5 Jazz exam, and is already picking up public performances on Zakinthos.

If you would like to join James and become one of my one to one Skype students then please just click here and we can have a chat.
