More about Dan Forshaw;
For saxophonist, composer and educator Dan Forshaw, sharing his passion for music is an integral part of his soul. Whether playing in packed nightclubs, smokey jazz bars or cavernous Cathedrals, Forshaw’s charismatic approach to music leaves audiences engaged , entertained and enthralled.
A student of theology and philosophy as well as music, Dan seeks to play music which enriches the soul as well as the mind, something he also passes onto his many music students through his innovative teaching program, ‘Cambridge Saxophone’.
Born into a musical family Dan started playing the piano as soon as he was tall enough to reach the keys. His first saxophone was a clunky ‘Amati’ tenor, but to a ten year old it was a dream! His first gigs came in his mid-teens and at sixteen he joined the ‘Amazing Blues Brothers, Soul Revue tour’, which set him on the road to being a professional musician.
A meeting with Branford Marsalis in 2003 set Dan’s sights a little higher, and lead him to New York where Dan was captivated by the amazing music one could hear from the small clubs in ‘the Village’.
Dan continues to perform, teach and record across the UK & Europe and is set to be a prominent voice on the saxophone for many years to come.
