Transcribe Coltrane #1

This ‘Transcribe Coltrane’ course will enable all students to access one of the most influential saxophonists of all time.

John Coltrane (1926 – 1967) was a fundamental part of Miles Davis’ first great group, which recorded the seminal Kind of Blue album in 1959.

This is one of the simplest and most beautiful solos by Coltrane, (and probably one of his shortest, some of them can go on for 45 minutes – ON ONE SONG!)

As always with transcription projects, remember to…

  • Go SLOW
  • SING
  • SHORT CLIPS

Transcribe Coltrane – Lesson 4 – Clips 7-9

In lesson 4 of our ‘Transcribe Coltrane’ course we are going to move towards the end of Coltrane’s short solo on Flamenco Sketches. As I have suggested in the video Clips 7 and 8 are quite easy and repetitive – Clip 9 will need some close attention!
