Our second transcription course to follow on from our ‘Memorising Chord Changes’ course is Stanley Turrentine’s solo over ‘When the Saints’.

Recorded on Jimmy Smith’s 1964 Blue Note album, ‘Prayer Meetin‘, this version of ‘When the Saints’ is a bit more ‘modern’ than the New Orleans versions you will have heard.

I want you to take a good listen to the whole track, not just the solo from 2:43 – 3:05 – make sure you can follow the chord changes, BEFORE starting the transcription project.
